Warranty
20-Year Limited Warranty
We stand behind the quality of every Panel Collective panel. Eligible wall panels are backed by our limited product warranty against manufacturing defects, up to 20 years depending on the range and application.
If a panel is found to have a genuine manufacturing defect under normal indoor use, installed in line with our guidelines, we will repair or replace the affected product at our discretion. Cover and term vary by product range and are confirmed with your quote and technical documentation.

What is covered
This warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials or workmanship that:
- Were present at the time of manufacture.
- Occur during normal indoor use.
- Affect the structural integrity or intended performance of the product.
Any warranty claim is subject to inspection by The Panel Collective, and we reserve the right to determine whether a fault is the result of a manufacturing defect.
What isn’t covered
This warranty does not cover damage resulting from:
- Incorrect installation or failure to follow our installation instructions.
- Any defect or visible variation that was apparent, or should reasonably have been apparent, before installation. Panels must be inspected thoroughly for defects, in lighting conditions matching the final installation environment, before any adhesive or fasteners are applied.
- Impact damage, dents, chips, scratches, scuffs or general wear and tear.
- Impact resistance, surface hardness and scratch resistance, which depend on handling and care in use and are not warranted under this warranty.
- Damage caused during handling, transport after delivery or storage.
- Misuse, abuse or accidental damage.
- Water, moisture, steam, flooding, leaks or excessive humidity.
- Installation in wet areas, bathrooms, saunas, steam rooms or any environment outside the product’s intended use.
- Exposure to direct weather, outdoor conditions or UV where the product is not designed for external use.
- Structural settling, building movement, uneven or out-of-true framing, or moisture or vapour transmission originating from or through the substrate or wall behind the panels.
- Colour variation, timber grain variation or the natural ageing of real wood veneer.
- Modifications, alterations or repairs carried out by anyone other than The Panel Collective.
- Commercial applications where the product is subjected to abnormal use or wear.
Interior panel use
Unless otherwise stated, Panel Collective interior wall panels are designed for interior dry areas only.
They must not be installed in locations exposed to direct water, prolonged moisture or steam.
Damage resulting from these conditions is not covered under this warranty.
Cover under this warranty is also conditional on the wall, substrate and building behind the panels remaining compliant with the relevant New Zealand building standards for the full warranty period, including adequate waterproofing and vapour control. Damage arising where these conditions are not maintained is not covered.
Delivery damage
If your order arrives damaged, please notify us as soon as possible after delivery.
Panels damaged in transit are covered under our delivery and returns policy and are not considered warranty claims.
Warranty claims
To make a claim, contact us using the details in the “Who gives this warranty” section below, as soon as the issue appears. You’ll need:
- Proof of purchase.
- Photographs of the affected product.
- Details of the installation and the issue.
The customer is responsible for any expenses incurred in claiming under this warranty, including the cost of shipping the affected panels back to The Panel Collective for evaluation. If the claim is deemed valid, The Panel Collective will reimburse reasonable freight costs.
The Panel Collective may request additional information or inspect the product before approving a claim. If a claim is accepted, The Panel Collective may repair, replace or refund the affected product (or part of the product) at our sole discretion.
Pro-rata warranty value
For the first 10 years from the date of purchase, a manufacturing-defect claim accepted by The Panel Collective is remedied at up to 100% of the original purchase price of the affected product. From year 11 to year 20, this warranty operates on a pro-rata basis and our liability is capped at 50% of the original purchase price of the affected product.
After year 10, the remedy is limited to the supply of replacement product only. This pro-rata scale applies to this voluntary warranty only and does not limit your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
Limitation of liability
This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, this warranty covers the replacement or repair of the affected product only. It does not cover labour costs, installation costs, removal costs, freight costs, consequential loss, loss of use, or any indirect or incidental damages.
Nothing in this warranty limits or excludes any rights or remedies you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, including any remedy for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee. Where the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 applies, your statutory rights prevail over the terms of this voluntary warranty.
Your rights under New Zealand law
This warranty is in addition to the guarantees you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, which apply where our panels are acquired as a consumer. Nothing in this warranty limits or replaces those guarantees. Where panels are supplied to a business for business use, the Consumer Guarantees Act may be excluded by agreement, as permitted under section 43 of that Act; any such exclusion is set out in our written terms of trade.
For anything this warranty does not cover, your rights under New Zealand consumer law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 where they apply, remain unaffected.
